In-person lessons are currently available.

Students and families who wish to have in-person lessons must follow the policies below. If it is necessary to switch to virtual lessons temporarily, a notice will be sent to all students and will be posted here.

Thank you all for your patience as we work together to stay as safe and healthy as possible.

Introduction

We have all had to be flexible and adapt to a constantly changing environment since the beginning of the pandemic. As we start to see the hopeful end to high transmission rates of COVID-19 in our communities in Manitoba, I look forward to the opportunity to return to a more predictable lesson schedule. However, I ask that all students and families continue to be understanding over the coming months as it may still be necessary to adapt lessons as needed to stay safe over the next term.

In order to keep everyone as safe as possible, I have instituted the following policies, which will remain in place for all lessons as long as this information remains actively posted here. If there are any updates to these policies, they will be posted on this page and an e-mail will be sent to all students and parents informing them of the same.

Alternatives to in-person lessons

Below are the procedures which must be followed for every in-person lesson. If you wish to begin or continue lessons, but are not comfortable with the in-person lesson procedures, please contact me about options for taking virtual lessons instead.

Procedures for in-person lessons

  • All students/parents are required to complete the attached screening form prior to every lesson. If you answer “yes” to any question on the screening form, please contact me to discuss whether we can continue with your lesson or if we need to reschedule or switch to a virtual lesson.

  • If you or anyone in your family is not feeling well, please contact me to reschedule your lesson.

  • Masks are not currently required for lessons, however students who wish to wear masks can request to continue wearing them for their lessons. Depending on the rate of respiratory infections in the community, it may be necessary to implement a mandatory mask policy at a later point in the year. If this becomes necessary, the change will be communicated to all parents and students.

  • One parent may attend lessons with their child/children at a time. For families with more than one student, only one student may be in the studio with the teacher at any given time.

  • When arriving for your lesson, please leave your violin case and outdoor shoes in the foyer.

  • Students and parents are asked to use the hand-sanitizer provided upon arriving at their lesson and before leaving.

  • If the case numbers in Manitoba get too high, or if new government restrictions are placed on extracurricular activities, it may be necessary to return to virtual lessons for a period of time to ensure the safety of all students. If that happens, I will contact all students/families as soon as possible to arrange for either virtual lessons or a temporary stop on lessons.
